The Voice (Season 12)
- Blind Audition
A door opened in one of the hardest years of my life. I felt to walk through it even in the thick of a weighty insurance battle to restore our family home after the February 2022 floods and letting go of our family business. Yes, I sang in the Bind Auditions on The Voice! I got to sing Fields Of Gold by Sting and whilst it wasn’t my time for a chair turn the judges had some very nice things to say and our family was able to shed light on the issues still faced by flood affected communities to this day.

Music exploration workshop at Possums Community Preschool.
It was a privilege to explore the amazing fun of music with Possums children. We observed different ways to make sound by exploring different instruments. We discovered how some instruments play one note at a time (like our own voices) and some can play up to 6 notes at a time (guitar). The children were brilliant at guessing the melodies of their favourite theme songs and nursery rhymes showing that melodies can carry meaning. The children were clever at identifying feelings with different sounds. We had a blast dancing and singing together; using percussion, our voices and our bodies to create our own spontaneous version of Old Mac Donald had a Farm. I love seeing the children light up around music!
‘Merry Christmas Baby’
The new single release and homecoming for Candice Casagrande
Northern Rivers homegrown recording artist Candice Casagrande returns to Bundjalung Country and is releasing her career first music video this summer.
Casagrande established herself as a prominent singer-songwriter in 2010 after being named a Top 12 Finalist in the prestigious Vanda & Young Song Competition. The indie-folk singer has received airplay on community and commercial radio, extensively toured the east coast of Australia with Stu Larsen and has been the recipient of multiple national and regional songwriting awards. Spending 2 years in London as a recipient of a PPCA Performers Trust grant, Casagrande has performed at notable venues throughout the UK and USA and been associated with pop and indie acts such as Bastille and Daughter, before taking an extended break from recording in 2014.
The heartwarming single 'Merry Christmas Baby' was written in London while Casagrande was missing home during the holidays. Inspired by Paul Kelly's 'How to Make Gravy', Casagrande says she was craving more relatable Christmas songs that reflect a quintessential Aussie Christmas in the sunshine. Having grown up inland of Byron Bay, the nostalgic music video for the track will feature original footage of Casagrande's family Christmases in the 1990s. The music video release will be Casagrande's first in her career, and a homecoming for the Australian artist in more ways than one.
'Merry Christmas Baby' music video will be released on YouTube November 1st and the song can be streamed on Spotify or purchased on major music platforms. This radio-friendly tune is sure to stir Aussie Christmas nostalgia and refresh the ears of tired Mariah Carey listeners.
